An Octopus holding a naval mine is the symbol of the underwater missions unit also known as the YALTAM unit (Former 707 unit). It is tasked with complicated underwater defensive assignments, including diving in Israeli harbors to prevent enemy intrusion, disarming devices such as old mines found underwater, and checking incoming vessels to ensure no explosives or contraband are attached underneath.  Divers with the YALTAM unit also assist in retrieval of sunken ships and planes, as well as perform underwater construction and maintenance tasks.  Recruits to the YALTAM unit already have extensive combat diving experience, their training consists of deep dives, and operating complex equipment underwater such as robots, welding tools, and metal detectors.
