About the IDF Pin Insignia Duvdevan Unit
Duvdevan is an elite unit dedicated of fighting in various areas, especially in Judea and Samaria. The unit works to prevent hostile terrorist activity and functions openly and disguised among the local Arab population. The unit's fighters are engaged in ongoing operational activity, night arrests, seizures of wanted persons, ambushes and disguised activities.
In the badge of the Duvdevan unit appears a double-edged sword, symbolizing the ruse of Ehud Ben Gera in his assassination of Eglon king of Moab.
Duvdevan is one of the most decorated units of the IDF. In 2001 it received the Chief of Staff's Citation for performing high-quality operational activity, and again in 2005. In 2007, some of the unit's warriors received a citation from the Judea and Samaria Division commander for excellence in complex operations in Nablus and Jenin.
In 2008, it received the IDF Chief of Staff prize for excellence , and in 2009, three outstanding combat soldiers from the unit received a Citation from the OC Central Command for operational activity carried out in the territories with a display of courage and professionalism.
Since 2015 the Duvdevan unit was transferred to the newly established Commando Brigade.
