IDF Pin Insignia Israeli Maglan Unit
About the IDF Pin Insignia Israeli Special Forces Maglan Unit
An Ibis (Maglan in Hebrew) is the symbol of this IDF Special Forces Unit. It is tasked with deep enemy territory missions while focusing on attacking and destroying specific targets and gathering accurate intelligence. In order to be a Maglan warrior a new recruit must train extensively for 18 months in what is considered to be one of the most challenging training courses in the IDF. Maglan warriors wear a red beret and brown combat boots. They belong to the Commando Brigade. Maglan was established in 1986 but became known to the public only 20 years later. According to its first commander, the Ibis like the unit knows how to adapt to every situation.
Since 2015 the Magalan unit was transferred to the newly established Commando Brigade.
