The Golani reconnaissance unit is the oldest and most experienced reconnaissance unit in the Israel Defense Forces. The unit was established during the War of Independence and since then, Sayeret Golani has fought hundreds of operations, battles and decisive decision-making stages in Israel’s wars. The unit knows how to prepare and carry out its missions as an independent unit.

Once admitted to the unit, recruits train for a year and 4 months. At the end of the course the crew reaches the end of the route, at the summit of Mount Hermon, to get the “Flying Tiger” pin and turn it into a combat unit.
The pin is a combination of the insignia of the three companies that make it up : The Sayeret tiger, the missile of the anti tank platoon, and an explosion that represents the combat engineers’ platoon.
